I’m sorry to report I haven’t gotten much done with the denim rag quilt challenge I set for myself. When I set up my challenge I was full of hope and thought I’d be able to complete the challenge with days to spare. Then reality set in. I’m lazy, easily distracted, and I seem to always procrastinate.
Jean Quilt | Denim Rag Quilt Progress:
I have cut the seams and zippers out of the jeans and they are now ready to be cut into squares and that’s about as far as I’ve gotten in construction my jean quilt. I think I cut up about 20 or so pairs of jeans, I’m not really sure but I think it’s enough to complete at least one quilt.
I’ve been debating on incorporating flannel into the quilt. My daughter, the former owner of the jeans, wants the jean quilt to be a “jean only” quilt. I’m not so sure this is such a great idea, jeans are heavy and while the jeans themselves have color variations, I can’t help but think adding flannel to the quilt would make it more colorful. I have a bunch of beautiful floral flannels in my stash that would look great with the jean squares. Flannel would also frey wonderfully. I haven’t made up my mind yet but as of right now I’m leaning towards adding some flannel. I probably won’t know what I’m going to do until I’m doing it.
I got distracted by my computer and decluttering my house. Sometimes I get online “just to check my email” and before I know it it’s time to go get the kids from school. I get online and I go into some sort of time warp. When I go online sometimes I just can’t get off, there’s always one more link to check out or one more thing I want to research, etc. Please tell me I’m not alone!
My husband is coming home late tomorrow and will be off the next 10 days. I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to do while he’s home. I’ll be cooking up a storm and hanging out with my man so there will be very little time for quilting. I am hoping to at least get the jeans cut into squares before he gets home. I have approximately 36 hours to get this done. Fingers crossed, I don’t get suck stuck on my computer!
